Description Doug Kinney's high-pressure job and busy home life are seriously stressing him out. So when a slightly demented scientist offers Doug what could be the ultimate solution to his problem -- cloning -- Doug leaps at it. The result is Doug 2, a macho workaholic who easily takes over Doug's job. But "two" Dougs simply aren't enough, so the effete Doug 3 comes on the scene, ready to perform household chores. Things get more complicated when Three makes a "copy" of himself, resulting in the watered-down, imbecilic Doug 4. Now, a once-good idea runs completely amuck, as the "original" Doug tries to keep his family, friends, and co-workers from learning about his clones. Ironically, Doug's life has become more complicated than ever, proving that 4 Dougs aren't necessarily better than one.

Personal Best
1982 Rated: R VHS
Not for sale to persons under age 18.
Starring: Mariel Hemingway, et al.
Director: Robert Towne

Amazon.com review:
It takes a lot to win. This movie is usually considered a classic of lesbian cinema, and that's too bad: its true sensuality lies in powerful erotic associations with running and the sheer pain of competition. The film opens with a memorable close-up of sweat dripping on tarmac, an early glimpse of a visual style which evolves throughout the picture into almost pornographic slow-motion sequences of high jumps, shot puts, and running legs.

And Justice for All
1979 Rated: R VHS
Starring: Al Pacino, et al.
Director: Norman Jewison

Review Amazon.com:
Al Pacino plays a Maryland lawyer who takes on a judicial system rife with dealmaking in this awkward blend of satire and sentimentality. Topical director Norman Jewison can't seem to help Pacino get comfortable with the mismatched material, which pushes the film into outrageousness at some turns and mawkishness at others. The script by Barry Levinson and Valerie Curtin is more an accumulation of random ideas and moments than a congruent story. However,it's interesting to see the large cast of good actors, most of whom hadn't become well known yet. (Christine Lahti made her film debut here.) Pacino gets to work for a second time (following The Godfather II) with acting mentor Lee Strasberg. --Tom Keogh

Review
From Leonard Maltin's Movie & Video Guide Amusing, if somewhat lackluster, comedy about a mental institution escapee who masquerades as a successful Beverly Hills psychiatrist and radio adviser. Some good laughs, served by a solid cast, but the story is pretty thin. Copyright© Leonard Maltin, 1998, used by arrangement with Signet, a division of Penguin Putnam, Inc.
