A January gathering? (insert laughter here) No but seriously we had trouble deciding on a schedule of gatherings for 2000. Call it our own personal Y2K bug. The holidays snuck up on us and bit us in the, well you know. So we just called this one off. Page down to see what is coming up for the Year 2000. |

Santa Clara County drive in the foot hills. Meeting place is the Ladera Shopping center, approx. two fifths of a mile on the right, just past the Shell station. To get there take Hwy. 280 to Alpine Road, Portola Valley,
Right turn from North, left from the South.
We can meet in the parking lot There is a coffee shop there for some caffine and snacks.
Driving Route:
Leaving the shopping center we will drive west approx. one mile to Arastradero rd.. Turning left we will pass the Alpine Inn. Arastradero Rd. connects with Page Mill after two miles. Right on Page Mill Rd. (west) to begin the climb to skyline. Ten miles of twists and turns with great views, we reach Skyline. Right on Skyline (north). Approx. one mile down we should stop at a turnout for great views of Silicon Valley, (and to check cars condition), then press on to Hwy 84, a sharp right turn at the Skywood Trading post and down the hill four miles to Portola Rd, right there and on to Sand Hill Rd.Right on Sand Hill Rd. which loops through Portola valley to Alpine Rd. left on Alpine Rd. back to the Alpine Inn and Lunch!!!
The drive is approx. 27 miles. There is some bike traffic on Arastradero and Hwy. 84. Page Mill is in decent shape despite the rain, some rough areas, but also some great turns and switchbacks, it is however a narrow road in some portions.
Hope to see everyone there!

It's the 3rd annual "Not the 49 mile scenic drive" rallye. This is a gimmick rallye. No it ain't no pitch or one joke wonder. It's a rallye that requires you to follow clues and answer questions that relate to the scenery and places you drive past. After the drive we have lunch with fabulous prizes for the winners. The drive takes place within San Francisco city limits. We had fun the last 2 years and it should be just as whacky this time. The starting place Ocean Beach across Great Hwy from the Beach Chalet.
