And if that doesn't work use a bigger screw driver.

The place: Bill Arnold's clean and organized BMW repair shop in San Rafael. The idea was simple: Have a Tech Session just like a Driver's School Pre-tech, but make it for 2002s only, and have Bill Arnold, Chief Scrutineer for the Golden Gate Chapter, take two 2002s of his choosing from the attendees, put them up on the lifts, and examine them in detail, commenting on important areas of concern for any 2002 owner.

Proving that there is still an amazing amount of interest in these little Bimmers of yesteryear, twenty 2002s showed up from all around the Bay Area despite the rainy weather. From a Ceylon Gold 2002tii to a Florida 1600, from a rare and very original Inka Euro 2002tii to a black custom-built convertible to a few primer colored cars, 2002s in every imaginable color and condition were on display.
See the little 02s all in a row
This is just part of the turn out for the event.
And the people. From long-time round-taillight 2002 diehards to new owners only weeks into the fold, all kinds of different owners showed up to exchange information and meet otherwise normal looking people who shared the same funny interest in these funky little cars.

Bill Arnold got the show on the road about 10:30, bringing the two cars in and carefully putting them on the lifts. For the next few hours, Bill did a terrific job of explaining in great detail the mechanical care and feeding of a 2002. Bill's girlfriend and 2002 lover, Virginia Seitz, did a great job of obtaining a bunch of pizzas to handle the feeding of a much larger crowd than was expected.

To say the event was a success is a massive understatement. Much credit for the event's success has to be given to Bill Arnold for his extremely professional and informational presentation. Thanks must also go to Curt Ingraham for taking lots of useful photos, and to JP Collins, whose idea of an online 2002 Club has blossomed into much more than just an online car club.

This Tech Session was the Bay Area '02 group's first real event aside from it's loosely organized Gatherings, which are usually held on the second Saturday of each month. Future events of this type are being planned, including a Swap Meet at Double 02 Salvage, a barbeque, and other interesting 2002-oriented events throughout the Bay Area.
