Finding an '02
So, once you've gotten an idea of what to look for and
what you think a fair price is, what else should you
do?
Natch, start looking! Use the internet and sites like
Bimmers.com, BMW Central, www.traderonline.com,
www.classifieds2000.com, www.recycler.com,
www.ebay.com, and any other local classifieds you can
find. Don't be afraid to check out the local
newspapers, as there are still some people not
connected to the internet. Also pass the word to any
friends with 2002s and talk to any local BMW shops.
Now, it's time to start the fun part...looking at the
cars you find for sale. Just what to look for can
take up an entire article, and we'll cover that in
more detail in the near future. For this month,
though, we'll finish up by covering a few more topics
that are important to the sale.
Finding a car far away
Example of a car you probably shouldn't buy much less travel for.

Firstoff....what if you can't find a car you like near
where you live? There are a lot of 2002s in
California, but what if you're in Michigan? The
decision to make is whether you want to travel to get
a car, and how far? In many cases, it's worth it to
find a rust-free car or the car you like. If you find
something far away, don't be afraid to ask the owner
for pictures, (maybe some shots made to look like
Polaroids??) either over the computer or in the mail.
The old saying, "A picture is worth a thousand words"
still rings true. You can also find a trusted friend
or knowledgeable enthusiast near the car who can take
a look at it to tell you if it's worth further
scrutiny. And then, there's the old standby, having a
local shop look at the car.
