Points to remember
In general, the following points can be said:
A nice original car is more desireable to most people
than a modified or poorly "restored" car.
A sunroof or five-speed transmission increases the
value of the car.
Color makes a difference. Some colors hold up/look
better than others.
A nice body is hard to find, and there are a lot of
sloppy "restorations" out there. Buy the best body you can afford.
The "perfect" car may not be perfect when you first
see it. Instead, it may need some work but the
price should reflect that.
A little rust usually means a lot of rust that you
can't see.
If there aren't receipts for work done and the work
isn't visible or obvious, it may not have been done
and you should be careful about paying for it.
Remember the old saying, "Caveat Emptor" or "Let The
Buyer Beware"? It applies here too. Next
time, we'll tell you the most common problems to look
for when buying a 2002.
