I hate to write stuff like this but I'm still sick at heart........
Saturday Morning's San Francisco Chronicle (1.02.99) on the rowdy New Year's
crowds and the damage they did caught my eye......

When I got to the part that said "an orange BMW was tipped over by the
crowd into the middle of Grant, it's roof caved in and muffler yanked
out before it burst into flames", I started feeling sick...not too many
BMWs are painted orange, and most of them are 2002s.
I turned to the rest of the article farther in the paper, and there was
a sad, sad picture. Yep, it was a 2002, and nope, it was not some
broken down, rusted out beater. The picture shows a square taillight
'02 upside down on the street in front of the new Kenneth Cole store on
Grant Avenue. A moron stands on top of the car, pulling up on the
muffler. Gas leaks out of the fuel filler, the cap missing. Graffitti
is spray-painted on the door. There are dents on the rust-free body,
and both taillights are broken. The windows have been broken. The rear
license plate has been ripped off. The car has 325 wheels and decent
tires on it.
The car is clearly someone's cherished 2002. Like one of our own,
someone cared for it, took care of it. Probably loved it even.
And these rampaging party idiots wrecked it.
Please, a moment of silence for a poor, innocent 2002......
