Great Site
01.03.01
Dear Guys,
First of all, i would like to commend u all for what i
believe is the best site for 02's in the web.
way back 1980, i first learned how to drive using my
dad's 1970 2002, without him knowing...all the
excitement and sheer pleasure made it happen because i
first did it in an 02. (driving i mean). it was
instant love. ever since it stuck (i was 17 then.)
we even got a 2nd unit for the rest of the family to
use. but we all sold it at 1983, much to my despair.
by the way, i am 38 y/o, from manila, philippines and
i still have that burning desire to get my own 02.
looking at your site and all the pics of the gathering
for the past years really makes me envious and at the
same time glad to see that alot of people still love
their 02's.
hoping to see more of the gatherings and sure would
like to meet u soon as i make my next trip to the
states.
bimmingly yours,

Driving the Backroads
4.23.00
Bay Area 02,
I just finished reading the backroads article and I thought about a great
road that starts in Clayton. The Morgon Territory road is a stretch of nine
mile twist and turn fun that begins in Clayton and lets out near Livermore.
It starts out two lanes and winds down to one after about four miles. It's a
great road to drive back and fourth because it only takes about 25 minuets to
go from one end to the other, I drove it about four times after I installed
my new sway bars to figure out the best setting. And for all those rally or
speed hungry O2 runners out there, I suggest to drive this road once or twice
at a cautious pace for there are some pretty aggressive off camber turns that
come up fast if you don't know where you are. This is a great road to drive
early in the morning, thats when you'll find me out there (maroon ''73 tii),
there is a great mist that creeps over the road that just seems to add to the
expirience. Hope to see some 02's out there!

Circle fetish
You know, I loved everything about Vince's open letter to BMW - until
I got to the very last line. There it was - another case of RTS!! (round
taillight snobbery) and the whole thing fell flat.
After correctly identifying what needs to go away to bring BMW back
to an enthusiasts marque there is no need for another of the thousands of
pointless digs against us "squares". How is it that square taillights
can be lumped in with such useless items as power seats and cruise
control?
I thought the Jeep people were over the top with their round
headlight fetish, but I love my 1976 2002 as much as I do my 1995 Jeep
Wrangler.
Like the man said - It's hip to be square.

Keep it Simple
I heard about your 2002 web site and decided to see it today! I enjoyed all
the sections and the interview w/ Rob torres, Jr. was interesting. I have to
give thanks to all the people that support the 2002 with web-sites, 2002
events, etc, like YOUR web-site and all the others. We 2002 enthusiasts now
have a place to go for info and advice regarding the BEST automobile EVER
built!! The following is my advice to MUNICH regarding the rumored NEW 2002:
I hope the new 2002 doesn't have the following items: electric
sunroof/windows, a six-cylinder (but a four cylinder!), NO on board computer
of any kind, no electric seats. All the 1970 colors should be offered and
please, NO leather interior!!Improvements should be focused on: more rear
room and standard A.C. The car should be priced around $17,000 so people may
stop buying the clone cars in TOYOTA, HONDA, ACURA, etc. The design for the
2002 has to remain BOXY. I truly believe if the above were to be achieved,
the 2002 would be a HUGE hit and BMW would start an automobile revolution.
M-benz would roll-over and die!!
Well that was my opinion on the new '02. Thank you and hope to see you in the
FEST-WEST.

Greetings!
My name is Duncan Hsu and I live in Salem, Massachusetts. I've frequented
your Bay Area 02 site and have enjoyed every visit. I recently received my
Dad's old 2002 Touring (1974 model). He purchased it new and gave it to me
a few months ago. Seeing that I grew up in this car, it means a lot to me
beyond the fact that it's a 2002.
If you're interested, here are the links to some shots I took today of my
2002 touring. Also,
check out 1976; it was taken back in 1976 and that's me in the photo :)
